The distinctive case of the Black Caddis.

The Little Black Caddis is found throughout the country.

Speckled Sedge (Hydropsyche species). Although these net spinners can be found in all rocky trout waters, they concentrate in tailwaters because of their ability to strain plankton from the water. (Plankton does not exist in free-running streams.) In most tailwaters, the larvae are so abundant that some are always drifting in the current, especially early in the morning. Pupae rise to the surface quickly and emerge from late afternoon until after dark.
